An exciting moment for the HandsOnSports Foundation as only months after consulting with Parks and Recreation Director Sara Kline we were completely surprised that the city moved forward with the plan and constructed the very first, brand new futsal play space at Kennedy Park on Munroe Falls Avenue just across from Waterworks Park.
"This was an amazing day for me," said HandsOnSports director Otto Orf. "I was in Argentina with a large group of futsal players from all across the USA. I received a Whats App message from my friend Matt Labidy and there it was, a beautiful photo of a brand new futsal court with two new goals. I was stunned."
I think the project is finally gaining some critical mass. As sara Kline mentioned soccer crosses all ethic borders and socio-economic lines, this kind of project is a way that we can bring children and families together in a way that everyone enjoys.
Now we have the chance to show other communities the program and the experience of the children. Its not only about playing or about futsal, its about connecting people, about bringing families together and sharing experiences. At the end of the day we all have much more in common than any of us realize and once we discover that relating to everything else becomes a little bit easier.
